The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council remains expectant of the Canary Islands High Court of Justice's resolution regarding the Eclectic Front of Las Canteras, a process affecting the Cultural Interest Asset declaration of the Doctor Apolinario house.

The situation centers on the property located at number 17 on the beach promenade, for which the owners previously claimed 2.4 million euros in compensation from the city council. This claim arose after the demolition permit for the building was suspended.

"The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council granted a license to the owners to carry out the action they intended, as that property was not included in the catalog of protected properties. The City Council did what the municipal technical services understood had to be done. That license was paralyzed by a BIC declaration action by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands that occurred later."

The municipal government found itself in the midst of this complex process in 2022, when the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands activated mechanisms to halt the works planned by the owners. The house, built over a century ago, was partially demolished and remodeled in 1972.
Given this scenario, the mayor has indicated that the owners' relatives have appealed the BIC declaration promoted by the Heritage Service of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands. Therefore, the City Council is awaiting the judicial decision. The initial stance of the city council was that, since the property was not protected and had undergone previous modifications, there were no grounds to deny the requested license.
