The Santa Brígida City Council, through the Municipal Sports Society, will promote the creation of the municipality's largest sports area in Mirador de la Villa, with an investment of 794,000 euros funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

This new facility will transform a 2,970 square meter plot, currently undeveloped, into a public space dedicated to sports, leisure, and community coexistence. The complex, located next to the senior citizens' center in Santa Brígida, will feature a multi-purpose court, basketball areas, a climbing wall, a functional training area, Canarian bowling courts, a dog park, and a zone for practicing yoga or pilates.
The basic and execution project involves an intervention over 2,146 square meters, organized into three levels connected by stairs. The two main platforms will have access from Mirador de la Villa street, while a third, smaller area will be linked to the future occupational center. The action will organize the currently empty plot and preserve part of the existing vegetation, integrating it into the design of the new sports complex.
The upper platform will house a multi-sport court for various disciplines, two adjoining basketball areas, a climbing wall installed on the boundary wall with the commercial zone, and an outdoor functional training area. This section will be complemented by concrete stands and rubber flooring to enhance safety. On the intermediate level, two Canarian bowling courts will be set up, accompanied by benches and pergolas for shade, as well as a dog park divided into two separate spaces for small and large dogs, equipped with agility elements. The lower platform will be reserved for quieter activities like yoga or pilates, with wooden flooring, grass, and shrub vegetation to create an integrated space.

"This new infrastructure will strengthen the municipality's sports offerings and allow residents to engage in physical activity completely free of charge, without needing to be federated or registered with a basketball club or any other sports discipline."

The funding comes from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, with an investment of 794,000 euros. Municipal forecasts indicate that work will begin before September, with an estimated execution period of eight months. This means the area could be ready by May 2027. The project also includes an irrigation network, a rainwater drainage system, and outdoor lighting for the different sports platforms.
