The Gara Itsasoa, a scientific catamaran considered unique in Spain, is opening its doors to the public at the Marina de Las Palmas for three days. The aim is to showcase the combination of science, sustainability, environmental education, and oceanic exploration that characterizes this project.
The vessel will be available for visits this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 09:00 to 19:00. Interested individuals can register in advance via an online form. The project seeks to highlight the capabilities of this floating laboratory, which also serves as a sea classroom and a scientific outreach platform.
Measuring 22 meters in length, the Gara Itsasoa is equipped to conduct marine research, educational programs, outreach experiences, thematic charters, and collaborations with universities and institutions. During the visits, attendees will be able to tour the catamaran's scientific equipment and learn about initiatives related to marine conservation and environmental outreach in Macaronesia.
Project proponents emphasize that this is a pioneering vessel in Spain, aimed at bringing ocean knowledge closer to citizens and fostering the protection of the marine environment. The open days are open to professionals and the general public interested in future collaborations or in learning about this innovative maritime project.
