The Telde City Council has been awarded the prestigious 'Platinum Broom' by the Technical Association for Waste Management and Environment (Ategrus), recognizing the excellence of its street cleaning and waste collection services.

This distinction, the highest granted by Ategrus, positions Telde among the most advanced municipalities in environmental management at both national and Ibero-American levels. This is a historic milestone for the city, which receives this top award for the first time, having previously obtained the 'Silver Broom' decades ago.
The jury particularly valued the profound transformation of the cleaning service implemented in recent years. Key aspects highlighted include the comprehensive renewal of machinery, the establishment of new infrastructure, the expansion of the human team, and the modernization of collection systems, such as the incorporation of the side-loading system. The city's strong commitment to more sustainable and efficient technologies was also recognized.

"This award is the result of the rigorous and planned work of the Cleaning Department, led by María Calderín. Congratulations to the entire team."

Héctor Gómez · Mayor of Telde
Ategrus also underscored the positive impact of these improvements on citizens' quality of life, as well as Telde's commitment to the circular economy, environmental protection, and social awareness regarding waste. The Mayor of Telde, Héctor Gómez, described this recognition as a collective achievement reflecting the city's dedication to sustainability and continuous improvement of public services.
For her part, the Councilor for Street Cleaning and Solid Waste Collection, María Calderín, emphasized that achieving the 'Platinum Broom' places Telde at the highest level of excellence. She extended special recognition to all professionals involved in the service, both from the concessionary company and the council, whose dedication and effort were crucial to achieving this goal. The award ceremony will take place on June 10 at Ifema Madrid, during the International Urban Planning and Environment Fair.
