The Telde City Council has taken a decisive step towards the reopening of its Municipal Market by awarding Gratec SA the contract for its implementation and comprehensive maintenance, a crucial project for the local economy.

The award, unanimously approved in an extraordinary session of the Local Government Board, marks the final phase of an administrative process that began in late January 2026. This agreement, driven by the Markets Department, aims to revitalize an emblematic space in the city.
The contract, with a base budget of 80,193.69 euros and an estimated total value of 165,114.97 euros, will have an initial duration of two years, extendable up to a maximum of five. Its objective is to ensure not only the reactivation but also the continuous operation of the market.
The awarded company will be responsible for activating essential services, such as the electrical supply connection, which is indispensable for its opening, and the comprehensive maintenance of the facilities. This includes the commissioning of elevators and escalators, the adaptation of the electrical installation to regulations, and the maintenance of fire protection systems, cold storage rooms, the generator set, and other building infrastructures.

"This award means moving from planning to the actual execution of the reopening. We have worked since the beginning of the mandate to unblock a complex project, and today we take a firm step to return the market to the citizens."

Additionally, the contract includes regulatory inspections, continuous technical assistance, and an incident response service, ensuring the safety of users, merchants, and products, and the operational readiness of the venue from day one.

"This government delivers with actions. The awarding of this contract places us in the final phase to open the market, a key space for the local economy, proximity trade, and social revitalization of Telde."
