The Telde City Council is completing the installation of two new outdoor gyms in Melenara and El Contrapeso, with an investment of nearly 100,000 euros, to promote physical activity among residents.

This initiative, driven by the Sports Department, aims to expand the range of spaces available for sports practice in the municipality. The new facilities are located in the Melenara Urban Park and in Anna and Vicent Ferrer Square, next to the La Vega - El Contrapeso urbanization.
The funding for this project comes from the Presidency Department of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Recently, a representative from the Cabildo visited Melenara Park to oversee the progress of the works, which are in their final phase and are expected to be available to the public in the coming weeks.

"This type of facility allows us to bring sports closer to the daily lives of residents, utilizing public spaces to promote healthy habits."

The gyms will feature various areas, including calisthenics zones, streetlifting structures with added weight, analytical machines with variable load systems, and bio-healthy areas. The design of these spaces has been conceived to be versatile and accessible, allowing their use by people of all ages and physical conditions, including users with reduced mobility.

"Collaboration between administrations is key to executing useful projects that have a direct impact on the well-being of citizens."
