The Telde City Council has launched a citizen participation initiative to select the design for a mural that will decorate a wall on the Melenara promenade, next to a future children's park.

The Department of Roads and Works in Telde has initiated a public vote, allowing residents to choose which of two proposed designs will adorn the side wall of the Melenara promenade. This area is adjacent to the future children's park in the neighborhood, establishing itself as a key point in the municipality's coastal environment.

"This is an unbeatable opportunity to ask citizens which design they feel most identified with. Although the spirit of the mural is the same in both options, highlighting the fishing tradition of the neighborhood and the work of Neptune by Luis Arencibia, residents will be able to choose between the predominance of warmer colors, typical of the sun and sand, or colder tones, inherent to the water and our skies in summer."

Both designs, created by Tugraffiti.com, are inspired by the maritime world, featuring the figure of Neptune alongside the letters of Melenara and small fishing boats. The main difference between the two proposals lies in their color palettes: one presents nocturnal colors, while the other features more daytime tones. The online voting is open until Friday, April 24th, at 12:00 PM.
Through this initiative, the local government aims to promote a more accessible and participatory policy, allowing citizens to directly engage in decisions affecting the image and development of the city, especially in high-traffic areas like the popular Melenara beach.
