The Telde City Council will put to a vote the official designation of the Occupational Center as the Gregoria González Valerón Occupational Center. This recognition aims to honor the memory of a prominent figure for her work in education, culture, and social commitment in the city.
The proposal, driven by the Department of Culture and the Department of Education, has completed its administrative processing and public exhibition period without receiving objections. The mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, personally conveyed the news to Gregoria González Valerón, known as 'Yoya', who received the proposal with emotion before her passing on August 29, 2025.

Mayor Juan Antonio Peña highlighted that Gregoria González Valerón experienced two significant moments during this term: the awarding of the Medal of Cultural Merit of Telde and the approval of this expediente. He expressed satisfaction that she could feel her city's affection and the recognition of her career.
The Councilor for Culture, Juan Martel, emphasized the significance of a space dedicated to inclusion and support bearing the name of Gregoria González Valerón, whom he described as a woman linked to Telde's culture and education. He thanked the staff of the Department of Culture and the Head of Service for their work.
Gregoria González Valerón served as a councilor for the Telde City Council for several terms, holding responsibilities in areas such as Education, Culture, and Local Development. She was also recognized with the Medal of Merit for her cultural activities and commitment to the city in 2023.
The plenary approval will link the name of Gregoria Yoya González Valerón to one of the most important municipal resources for the support, training, and autonomy of people with disabilities, consolidating a recognition born from the collective affection of the city.
