Two national master judo coaches, Jorge Hernández Santana and Jonathan Hernández Santana, have made history in Canary Islands judo by becoming the first technicians from the islands to obtain an international qualification from the IJF Academy.

The prestigious certification was achieved after successfully completing the 'Technical Course for Coaches', a rigorous global training program for judo coaches and technicians. The course, which lasted six months, included a theoretical phase with thirteen specialized modules covering training methodology, physical preparation, judo instruction, and the holistic development of the athlete.
The final stage of the training program took place in Belgrade, Serbia, between June 8th and 13th. During this phase, both technicians actively participated in practical sessions and in-person evaluations organized jointly by the IJF Academy and the Serbian Judo Federation.
With this accreditation, Jorge Hernández Santana and Jonathan Hernández Santana position themselves as the only technicians in the Canary Islands with this training recognized by the world's leading judo body. This achievement represents a significant advancement for the development of the sport in the region.
This distinction underscores the strong commitment of both coaches to continuous learning, the pursuit of professional excellence, and the constant updating of their knowledge, which will undoubtedly strengthen judo in the Canary Islands and the preparation of future generations of athletes.
