The Arucas City Council has chosen Batista, former director of the group Los Gofiones, to inaugurate the patron saint festivities. His proclamation, set for 8:00 PM, promises to intertwine his extensive musical career with his deep personal connection to the municipality.
“"If I were born again, I would undoubtedly choose Arucas."
Trained in classical guitar in both the Canary Islands and Paris, Víctor Batista has garnered numerous international accolades, including the Premier Prix and the Medaille D'Or from the Federation of Conservatories of Music and Dramatic Arts of the Région Parisienne. He also won the Blas Sánchez-Villa Interpretation First Prize in Laredo and the Ciudad de Santander Interpretation Award.
For nine years, Batista directed the Arucas Municipal Art Schools and played a pivotal role in the musical and artistic direction of Los Gofiones. Additionally, he contributed to the direction of highly successful television programs such as Tenderete on TVE. His career began under the influence of Juanito Gutiérrez, leader of Los Hijos de la Noche, who were pioneers of Canarian folk groups.
During the event's presentation, the mayor of Arucas, Juan Jesús Facundo, and the Councilor for Festivities, María José Valencia, were present. Batista expressed his gratitude for the honor of being the town crier for the locality's most significant festivities, emphasizing his unwavering bond with Arucas.
