The public company Visocan has provisionally awarded the construction of 168 protected homes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a key measure to address housing demand on the island.

The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Pablo Rodríguez, has taken a significant step in expanding the public housing stock. Through Visocan, the provisional award for building 168 protected residential units has been formalized, which will include garages, commercial premises, and storage rooms in the Gran Canaria capital.
The project will be developed on a plot of 11,244 square meters, strategically located in the Casablanca III area, adjacent to the La Paterna neighborhood. This location seeks to integrate the new constructions into an already established environment, facilitating access to services and facilities.
The contract has been awarded to the company Bilba Construcción e Infraestructuras SLU, with a budget amounting to 32,231,892.45 million euros. This investment underscores the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands to creating accessible housing solutions for its citizens.
According to the regional Executive, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to increase the number of protected properties and guarantee the right to “decent housing.” With this award, the response to the growing housing demand in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is strengthened, marking progress in the islands' housing policy.
