The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the Canarian Health Service (SCS) has organized a blood donation campaign at the Official School of Languages in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, taking place this Thursday and Friday.

The donation point will be operational from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, aiming to facilitate participation from the center's staff and students, as well as local residents. The SCS seeks to encourage regular donations, reminding the public that donating blood at least twice a year helps maintain stable reserves and ensures the availability of blood products in hospitals.
In addition to this mobile campaign, citizens can visit the fixed donation points in Gran Canaria. The headquarters of the General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy, located on Alfonso XIII street in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is open from Monday to Wednesday, 8:15 AM to 9:00 PM (except holidays). The fixed point in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, in the annex of the Vecindario Health Center, offers varied hours from Monday to Friday.
The hospital network also has donation points without prior appointment. The Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria receives donors Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM; the University Hospital Materno Infantil de Canarias, Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM; and the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM. At Hospiten Roca San Agustín, donations are accepted on Fridays, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, by appointment at 928 301 012 (option 8).
To be eligible to donate blood, individuals must meet basic requirements: be between eighteen and 65 years old (up to sixty for a first-time donation), weigh over fifty kilograms, be in generally good health, and not be pregnant. For any inquiries, one can call the free donor assistance line at 900 234 061 or consult the website efectodonacion.com.
