The Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Poli Suárez, visited the Children's and Primary Education Center (CEIP) Los Tarahales, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this Wednesday. During the visit, he gained firsthand knowledge of the progress in implementing Doramas, the new integral educational management system for the Canary Islands.
Since its launch on September 1st, the platform has recorded over 52,000 accesses and has 13,327 users. The system has managed information for 7,745 students, processed 203 new enrollments, and 722 registrations for complementary services such as dining or school transport.
Poli Suárez emphasized that the platform was created to reduce bureaucracy and the time spent on administrative tasks, thereby allowing more time for student attention. The pilot phase, which is being carried out on seven islands, aims to evaluate the tool under real conditions before extending it to all Children's and Primary Education centers in the Canary Islands.
For this phase, the Ministry has allocated a team of 68 trainers and forty support staff in the centers, in addition to offering nearly 120 training sessions and support resources on its website. The pilot phase includes thirty centers distributed across all islands, covering Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro.
Following this stage, the Ministry plans to progressively extend the platform to all 534 Children's and Primary Education centers in the Canary Islands during the first quarter of 2027. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the FEDER Canarias 2021-2027 Program.
Doramas aims to consolidate procedures currently handled by different applications into a single platform, simplifying management and reducing bureaucratic workload. Key functionalities include management of teaching staff, classroom records, student portfolios, and the ability for families to request tutoring sessions or authorizations for child pick-up.
The platform also incorporates improvements in internal management, such as integration with personnel information systems, thus avoiding duplication. Two dedicated mobile applications for Doramas will be launched soon to facilitate management tasks for management teams, teachers, students, and families.
