The council takes another step towards modernizing road safety in the municipality by improving traffic light systems. The goal is to renew elements, optimize their functioning, and adapt them to current traffic and accessibility needs. Interested companies will have a period of twenty calendar days to submit their bids after the announcement is published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
Driven by the Signaling and Traffic department, the project includes a comprehensive intervention involving the execution of new electrical ducting, replacement of cables, renovation of poles, traffic lights, and accessories, as well as updating controllers and their cabinets. Additionally, Bluetooth-activated acoustic systems will be incorporated for visually impaired individuals, enhancing accessibility at intersections.
The project, with an execution period of six months, also covers the necessary procedures for legalizing installations, programming, technical verifications, and commissioning. The investment is part of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria's Cooperation Plan with Municipalities 2024-2027, which covers 100% of the budget, allowing the City Council to improve infrastructure without using its own funds.
The City Council has highlighted the technical and administrative work undertaken to process the expediente, emphasizing the coordination between the Contracting, Intervention services, and traffic management areas. This joint effort ensures that the tender proceeds with the necessary technical, budgetary, and legal guarantees for an investment of this magnitude.
