The Telde City Council has initiated procedures to utilize Treasury reserves to settle a significant debt with Transportes La Pardilla SL, stemming from a judicial ruling, aiming to ensure the stability of the urban transport service.

The municipal corporation of Telde has set in motion the necessary procedures to address the payment of a judicial sentence favoring Transportes La Pardilla SL, the company responsible for urban transport. This situation represents a considerable economic burden for municipal coffers, as the amount exceeds the ordinary budgetary capacity of the responsible department, whose budget is allocated to daily operations and has limited disposal margins.
To meet this expenditure, the local administration has opted for an extraordinary solution: resorting to Treasury reserves. This measure, which has already been communicated to the relevant judicial body, involves processing a credit supplement that must be approved by the Municipal Plenary. The council has informed the court about the material impossibility of meeting the initial deadlines due to the complexity of administrative procedures required to mobilize such a large amount in a short period.

The City Council emphasizes that both in the current and previous mandates, attempts were made to resolve this situation through internal and ordinary channels. However, these attempts did not succeed as they failed to pass the Municipal Audit's fiscalization procedures.

The City Council has highlighted that, in both the current and previous mandates, efforts were made to resolve the situation through internal channels, but these attempts did not pass the controls of the Municipal Audit. During the previous mandate, under the management of Agustín Arencibia and the mayoralties of Héctor Suárez and Carmen Hernández, there was already a willingness to solve the problem, albeit unsuccessfully, which ultimately led to the judicial process. In the current stage, with Miguel Rodríguez leading the Traffic area and Juan Antonio Peña as mayor, the same line of work is maintained for a definitive resolution.
The administrative stalemate was the decisive factor that led the concessionaire company to pursue legal action, resulting in a favorable ruling for its claims. The council has acknowledged the impact of this situation on both the company and its employees, expressing understanding and support in the face of the generated uncertainty.
To prevent similar scenarios in the future and ensure the stability of the public service, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through the Department of Mobility and Presidency, led by Teodoro Sosa, has offered its collaboration to the City Council. This cooperation will include technical assistance and support in preparing reports and procedures for more effective administrative management. The City Council reiterates that all available mechanisms are being expedited to comply with the judicial resolution as soon as possible, while working on establishing a stable framework that ensures the continuity and viability of urban transport in the municipality.
