The ceremony, presided over by the dean of ICATF, Mila Pacheco Pérez, was attended by judicial, political, and social authorities. The dean welcomed the newly incorporated professionals, reminding them that the practice of law is "much more than knowing the laws," emphasizing the importance of empathy, closeness, and honesty in a profession that accompanies people "in some of the most difficult moments of their lives."
Pacheco Pérez also addressed the current challenges facing the legal profession, highlighting the new Law on Procedural Efficiency as a path for negotiation and conflict resolution. She underscored the immense trust placed in lawyers by citizens and the need to help them resolve their problems in the best possible way.
The event also served to honor members who have completed 25, 40, and 50 years of professional practice, recognizing their commitment and dedication. The dean took the opportunity to advocate for solutions to pending issues, such as the transition to the RETA for mutualists.
One of the ceremony's highlights was the presentation of the IX ICATF Award to Mónica García de Yzaguirre, president of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an honor chosen by the members themselves.
The ceremony concluded with the appointment of Carmen Pitti García as dean emeritus, to whom Dean Mila Pacheco dedicated emotional words of recognition, defining her as a key figure in the institution's recent history.
Finally, the dean reaffirmed the social importance of law as a profession "essential for the defense of rights, freedom, and human dignity," urging its practice with "honesty, humanity, and dignity."
