The Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have arrested a 63-year-old man following an intervention in the Los Gladiolos neighborhood. The incident occurred at a residence where the detainee lives with his 86-year-old mother and another family member.
Officers were dispatched due to a possible domestic violence case. Upon arriving at the home, they found the mother on the floor, having difficulty moving. A family member told the officers that the detainee frequently threatened the household members with death and even threatened the family dog.
During the inspection, officers found the dog at the residence with clear signs of abuse, showing numerous bloodstains and appearing immobile. The detainee himself, upon arriving at the home, admitted to having struck the animal with a dumbbell, an object that officers later found with blood traces.
Following these events, the man was arrested and taken to a nearby health center. The assaulted woman received medical attention and was transferred to the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria (HUNSC) for further evaluation. The dog was urgently taken to a veterinary clinic.
