One of the most prominent initiatives of this edition will be the Meeting of New Authors with Publishers, taking place at 11:00 AM in the Exhibition Hall of García Sanabria Park. This event aims to discover and give visibility to emerging writers from Tenerife, offering them the opportunity to present their works to Canarian publishing houses.
This proposal opens a direct path to publication, as each publisher can select a work for editing, with the expectation of up to four new titles being published in genres such as narrative, poetry, or essay. This initiative transforms the Book Fair into a real platform for boosting emerging creation on the island.
Concurrently, at 11:00 AM, the Alfonso García-Ramos Space will host the presentation of La viuda blanca (Baile del Sol, 2025), by a Canarian author, in conversation with a journalist. The work explores grief, loss, and personal transformations, themes that resonate particularly on a day marked by the celebration of family ties.
Also from the morning, the Ángel Guimerá Space will highlight the Canarian publishing sector with the presentation of various new releases. At 11:00 AM, the Centro de la Cultura Popular Canaria will present 365 coplas, by an author, and Cómo miran los mares, by another author, two works that engage with oral tradition and the cultural landscape of the Islands. At 12:00 PM, an author will present Cerrar los ojos and Perdóneme, Monsieur Flaubert, works that explore memory and identity from a contemporary perspective.
At 1:00 PM, LeCanarien Ediciones will unveil La pella de gofio, by an author, a title that reclaims identifying elements of the Archipelago from a current perspective. In the afternoon, Algani Editorial will present Margarita ojos de luna, by an author (5:00 PM), and Dímelo en canario, by another author (6:00 PM), both focusing on the relationship between language, culture, and territory.
The program will also include performing arts at 6:00 PM with “La Orilla dorada,” a proposal that combines words and interpretation to explore new forms of literary expression.
The day will conclude at 7:30 PM with the presence of a Canarian poet, one of the most influential voices among young audiences, who will present Y yo a ti (Lunwerg, 2025) and Si el mar no regresa (Lunwerg, 2026), in conversation with a journalist. Her work, characterized by emotion and intimacy, transforms poetry into a space for connecting with affections, especially significant on Mother's Day.
“"This day reflects literature's ability to connect with emotions and the bonds that define us as a society. The Cabildo is committed to a fair that not only gives visibility to established authors but also generates real opportunities for those starting out, thus strengthening the island's cultural fabric."
The councilor added that initiatives like the Meeting of New Authors with Publishers open new doors to emerging talent, while the presence of prominent authors demonstrates literature's connection with new generations and current ways of expressing emotion.
With this program, Sunday, May 3rd is consolidated as a key day within the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Book Fair, where poetry, performance, and new opportunities for creation intertwine in a cultural celebration that, on Mother's Day, places emotion and words at its center.
