The project, part of the Programmed Residential Environments Rehabilitation (ERRP) and funded by European Next Generation EU funds, has focused on four residential blocks of six and seven floors. Implemented improvements include the adaptation of elevator control panels in braille, facilitating their use for visually impaired individuals.
The works, designed by architect Víctor Cabrera Febles and executed by VVO Construcciones, are nearing completion, with an expected finish date before the end of summer. The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted the importance of these upgrades for residents' comfort, particularly for the elderly or those with reduced mobility.
The total investment for this rehabilitation amounts to 2.56 million euros. In addition to the elevators, the work included facade conditioning with natural cork thermal and acoustic cladding, roof waterproofing, and insulation installation to optimize the buildings' energy performance. Telecommunication systems have also been modernized, and solar panels have been installed for domestic hot water production.
