The lyrical cycle, which concluded in June with the zarzuela La verbena de la Paloma, has broken attendance records. The 2025-2026 season included the initiative Ópera en minúscula, large-format productions, recitals, and educational talks by Ramón Gener.
José Carlos Acha, Minister of Culture for the Cabildo de Tenerife, expressed his satisfaction: “These numbers indicate we are on the right track, thanks to a consolidated audience that enjoys our proposals and knows that the Auditorium's offerings guarantee quality.” He highlighted that, for the first time, Ópera de Tenerife has surpassed 1,300 subscribers, noting a growing familiarity with the genre, especially among young people.
Acha attributes part of the success to accessible prices and anticipates positive progression for the next season, with over six thousand seats already occupied, ten percent of which are by individuals under 30 years old.
The season began with Ópera en minúscula, which featured seven shows at the Tenerife Auditorium, Espacio la Granja, and Teatro Leal, attracting more than 800 spectators.
Major productions kicked off in October with Yerma by Heitor Villa-Lobos, which drew over 3,800 people and received two Talía awards. This was followed by The Flying Dutchman in November, with more than 4,000 spectators, and Adiós a la bohemia by Pablo Sorozabal and Pío Baroja, which gathered over 2,000 attendees by the end of the year.
The start of 2026 featured Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Gluck (over 2,700 spectators), followed by Roméo et Juliette by Charles Gounod (over 3,900 enthusiasts), and Bluebeard's Castle by Béla Bartok (one thousand people).
The season concluded with Los celos han estrellas y el amor hace prodigios at the Teatro Leal (over 250 spectators) and the aforementioned La verbena de la Paloma, which attracted more than 4,200 people.
The lyrical offerings were complemented by seven talks by Ramón Gener, one by Javi Alonso, three recitals by José Bros, and a lied recital, totaling over 3,000 attendees for these activities.
