The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Tenerife this Friday, June 12th, will cause significant disruptions to bus services due to planned traffic closures on the TF-5 highway and other main roads.

The transport company Titsa has prepared a special operation to mitigate disruptions to its bus services due to the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Tenerife this Friday, June 12th. Significant traffic closures are expected on the TF-5 highway, the TF-13 Vía de Ronda, the metropolitan area, and the city centers of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna.
It is recommended that users planning to travel to Santa Cruz do so before 9:00 AM, and those coming from the north of the island, before 7:30 AM, to avoid the traffic restrictions planned for the morning.
Titsa will reinforce several metropolitan, northern, and southern lines to facilitate travel before and after the closures of the TF-5. Among the reinforced lines in the metropolitan area are 014, 015, 020, 050, 122, 128/120, and 232. In the north, lines 100, 102, and 108 will be reinforced. In the south, lines 110, 112, and 114 will receive reinforcements.
Throughout June 12th, a special fare of one euro per trip will be applied to users who indicate they are traveling for the papal visit and do not have a Ten+ transport card or resident pass. Payment can be made in cash or by credit card, after informing the driver beforehand.
The Santa Cruz Interchanger will experience modifications in its bus bays between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Several lines, including the shuttle and line 912, will change their usual location. Other lines such as 014, 015, 020, 108, 110, and 112 will depart from outside the interchanger.
The closures on the TF-5 will particularly affect connections from the north to Santa Cruz. The highway will be closed towards Santa Cruz from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and northbound from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Some departures from lines 100, 102, 108, 030, 343, and 105 will be suspended or rescheduled.
Southern lines heading towards Santa Cruz will operate normally, but southbound lines will be diverted via Tres de Mayo. Between 1:15 PM and 2:15 PM, several southern lines will be suspended as they will be unable to access the TF-1.
A special shuttle service will be activated between the Santa Cruz Interchanger and Muelle Norte from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a frequency of approximately 10 minutes. Lines serving Anaga (909, 910, 916, 917, 945, 946, and 947) will have their start and end points at Muelle Norte during this period, requiring a transfer to reach the Interchanger.
In Santa Cruz, closures on avenues such as La Salle, Weyler, Méndez Núñez, and Francisco La Roche will affect urban lines like 902, 912, 914, 920, and 921. There will also be detours in the Barrio de La Salud area (lines 901, 904, 906, 919), Ofra (lines 905, 908, 911), and the southwest (lines 903, 923, 934, 935, 936, 937, 940, and 941).
In La Laguna, traffic closures between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM will affect several urban lines. Line 206 will have stops out of service in La Verdellada and will be rerouted in La Milagrosa. Lines 203, 204, 271, 274, and 275 will be diverted via Paseo Oramas and San Benito.
Line 026 (Santa Cruz-La Laguna) will not operate in La Verdellada between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, with modifications to its route. Lines 014 and 026 heading towards Santa Cruz will also have several of their usual stops affected.
