The Tenerife Auditorium launched on Friday, July 17th, the seventeenth edition of the Course for Band, Orchestra, and Choir Conducting, an initiative that will run until July 31st.

The Tenerife Federation of Music Bands, with the support of the Island Council (Cabildo Insular), organizes this training which includes a composition workshop led by maestro José Suñer-Oriola. The course will conclude with a concert by the Federation's Insular Band in the Chamber Hall.
The opening ceremony was attended by the insular Minister of Culture, José Carlos Acha, members of the Federation's board, led by its president, Juan Antonio Rancel, and the course coordinator, Vivian Gutiérrez. Acha congratulated the students and praised the Federation's educational efforts.
Vivian Gutiérrez emphasized that the course aims to "create new conductors," noting that "70 percent of participants from previous editions are currently active in the band scene."
Juan Antonio Rancel acknowledged that this edition is "more ambitious" with "more instructors and more activities," and highlighted the "more novel vision" by including students from "very varied instruments."
The course, aimed at band, orchestra, and ensemble directors, students, and professional musicians, will utilize the Tenerife Federation's Insular Band, the Miguel Jaubert Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Tenerife, and a choir formed by the participants for practical sessions. On the last day of July, at 7:30 PM, a closing concert will be held.
This collaboration between the Tenerife Island Council and the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands also includes the Primavera Musical concert series and an insular youth band meeting.
