The exhibition, which can be visited in the courtyard of the Business Incubator, pays tribute to two decades of commitment to the business fabric of Lanzarote and La Graciosa through graphic humor. The inaugural event was attended by the institution's president, José Valle, and the author himself, Miguel Cabrera, bringing together representatives from the island's business, institutional, and social sectors.
José Valle emphasized the retrospective's value as a reflection of the entity's continuous commitment to local socioeconomic development. "Behind every stroke by Miguel, behind every touch of graphic humor, there is a serious claim, a just cause, and a deep dedication to our land," stressed the president, thanking Cabrera for his talent in serving the business voice.
Miguel Cabrera explained that the use of cartoons originated as a visual impact resource to accompany the corporation's official demands, preventing files from falling into bureaucratic oblivion and ensuring that the needs of Lanzarote and La Graciosa did not go unnoticed by public administrations.
The author detailed the meaning of the work created for the institution's 20th Anniversary: "Although it is very difficult to capture the entire trajectory of these twenty years in one drawing, I have tried generically to draw something easy to understand. It reflects the growth and consolidation over time; details such as the old incubator, represented by the same tree, the incorporation of La Graciosa with the hat hanging on the trunk, the fully operational incubator with its nest and chicks, and the fruits it has borne. The basket in the foreground suggests the availability of these fruits for Lanzarote and La Graciosa," he explained.
José Torres, former president of the Chamber who shared a term with Miguel Cabrera, recalled the beginnings of this shared strategy, highlighting the initiative to use graphic irony to give real impact to the Chamber's voice.
The exhibition, which reviews the main milestones and claims of the islands' commerce and businesses through graphic satire, will remain on display in the courtyard of the Business Incubator for the coming months.
