The press conference was attended by Vice-Minister Ángel Sabroso, Director General of Indigenous Sports Lorena Hernández, President of the Canarian Wrestling Federation Francisco Rivero, and President of the Canary Islands Anti-Doping Commission Antonio Ramos Gordillo, who explained the work done alongside Dr. Lidia Suárez Rodríguez.
The composition of the Canary Islands Anti-Doping Commission was also announced, comprising Antonio Sebastián Ramos Gordillo (president and specialist physician), Almudena Rivera Deán (Public Health Diploma holder), Lidia Suarez Rodríguez (specialist physician), Norberto Marrero Gordillo (specialist physician and technical director of the Federation), and Lorena Hernández Labrador (Director General of Indigenous Sports).
The presented data indicates that over 78% of wrestlers have demonstrated their integrity. Ramos Gordillo differentiated between those who made mistakes and admitted them, who will be supported in their return process, and those who attempted to deceive, who will face sanctions ranging from 3 months to lifetime bans from the sport.
This initiative represents another step towards the consolidation of clean traditional sport, benefiting both fans and sponsors in the Canary Islands.
