The Canarian Lateen Sail Boat Federation has established the official calendar for the 2026 season, which will commence on April 18 with the Port Authority Opening Competition – Las Palmas Port Foundation.

The Canarian Lateen Sail Boat Federation recently held its Extraordinary General Assembly at the Muelle Deportivo, a crucial meeting to lay down the organizational and sporting foundations for the upcoming season. During the session, key points such as the sports calendar, modifications to the Regatta Instructions, and the Competition Rules were approved, in addition to ratifying technical exemptions requested by various boats.
The Governing Board, chaired by Manuel Farías, also presented a report on the current economic and sporting situation of the Federation, outlining short and medium-term strategies following the recent inauguration of the new board.
The 2026 competition calendar is structured around three major tournaments. The Aguas de Teror Championship, considered the main competition in Canarian Lateen Sailing, will feature eleven race days. This championship will begin on Saturday, April 25, and conclude on August 29, in a regular league format that will determine the season's champion in the capital's bay.
Furthermore, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria Cup will include four contest-type races, designed to bring the competition closer to the public by setting up buoys on the racecourse. The first of these races will be the Port Authority Opening Competition – Las Palmas Port Foundation, scheduled for Saturday, April 18. This will be followed by the Canary Islands Day Competition on May 30, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Founding Festivities Competition on June 20, and the Belén María Traditional Sports Competition on July 11.
Finally, the Fundación La Caja de Canarias Eliminatory Tournament will proceed in a progressive elimination format, where boats with the slowest times will be removed from the competition. The elimination rounds are scheduled for May 23 (Memorial Vela Latina), June 27 (Guaguas Municipales), and July 18 (Fundación La Caja de Canarias), with the grand final set for August 22. The month of September is reserved for potential adjustments, tie-breaking races, and the Federation Trophy on September 12, which will feature the season's most outstanding boats.
