This aid, financed with own funds from the Autonomous Community, is intended to support the operation and activity of these organizations, considered an essential pillar for the organization and representation of the Canarian fishing sector.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, highlighted that the aid represents support for the daily functioning of these entities and a guarantee for them to continue providing essential services to fishing professionals.
For his part, the Director General of Fisheries, Esteban Reyes, pointed out that the financial support allows these entities to strengthen their management capacity, improve the services they offer to their members, and contribute to maintaining a strategic activity for many coastal areas of the Archipelago.
The subsidy covers ordinary expenses such as utilities (electricity, water, telephone), office supplies, mandatory insurance, occupational risk prevention measures, fees to sector federations, travel for official meetings, personnel hiring, Social Security costs, and advisory services (legal, labor, fiscal, accounting, IT), including website creation and maintenance.
The granting procedure was carried out through a competitive bidding process, evaluating the number of associated members, activity at first sale points, and aspects related to generational change and gender equality.
