The Cabildo of La Palma continues to advance in the realization of the new Hospital of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Santa Cruz de La Palma, a key infrastructure with an estimated investment of 12,527,160.87 euros.

The Governing team of the Cabildo of La Palma has announced significant progress in making the new Hospital of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Santa Cruz de La Palma a reality. The project, essential for the care of the elderly and dependent, has a total estimated investment of 12,527,160.87 euros. Of this amount, 3,285,000 euros will come from the European Funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Next Generation EU for the 2026 fiscal year.
The insular president, Sergio Rodríguez, has highlighted the importance of this socio-health infrastructure, calling it "key" to fulfilling the Governing team's main objective: providing the best care for the elderly and dependent on the island.
The future Hospital of Dolores will feature 193 beds, which will allow for an expansion of the current coverage and a response to the specific socio-health needs of La Palma. This modernization aims to offer a center adapted to the demands of the population.
Recently, the Governing Council approved a modification to the agreement between the Cabildo of La Palma and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families. This action, part of the second addendum to the inter-administrative agreement, facilitates the granting of a direct subsidy for equipment focused on person-centered care, with the aim of renovating or building socio-health places aligned with the new long-term care model of the European Union.
The insular Governing team reminds that this important infrastructure will be part of the Virgen de las Nieves Socio-Health Complex, which will also house the La Dehesa Senior Center and the Center for Alzheimer's and other dementias.
