The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Health Area Directorate of El Hierro, has purchased land next to the Nuestra Señora de los Reyes Hospital. This space will be used to create new parking spots, benefiting both users and staff of the hospital, which is part of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS).
The new plot, covering 3,222 square meters and offering direct access to the hospital's inpatient floor, will enhance accessibility and mobility around the El Hierro hospital. The SCS has invested 28,039 euros in this land acquisition.
This initiative is part of the measures promoted by the Ministry of Health to improve the infrastructure and services of the Nuestra Señora de los Reyes Hospital, aiming to provide greater convenience and accessibility for patients, their companions, and both medical and non-medical staff.
The director of the Health Area of El Hierro, Pilar Mora, explained that the previous reduction in parking spaces was due to dedicating available land to expand the hospital building for the MRI equipment and the construction of the new Health Center in Valverde. Therefore, incorporating this new plot for parking is necessary to "optimize the hospital's surroundings and meet the mobility needs arising from the healthcare activities conducted within these facilities."
For her part, the manager of the island's Health Services, Jéssica Acosta, stated that the new parking facility will facilitate access for patients and companions, as well as improve mobility conditions for the center's staff. "This addresses an existing demand in the hospital environment and contributes to better organization of the outdoor spaces within the complex," she added.
