The top national women's volleyball competition reaches its climax with the clash between Heidelberg Volkswagen, the current Iberdrola League champion, and Fundación Cajasol Andalucía, winner of the Copa de la Reina. Both teams will vie for the league title in the 2025-2026 season.
The team from Gran Canaria, despite internal challenges this season, including changes in sports management and coaching staff, remains hopeful of making history. The Andalusian team, for its part, already demonstrated its strength by defeating Heidelberg Volkswagen in the Copa de la Reina final held in Tenerife.
The first match of the final will be played this Sunday at 12:30 PM at the Miguel Solaesa pavilion, where the local fans will be crucial in supporting the team. Heidelberg Volkswagen does not have the home-court advantage in this best-of-three series.
“"The team is in very good spirits after the playoff against Libby's La Laguna, winning 2-0. We are very happy with the daily work of the squad and we will try to play well here so we can go there against a team that is proving to be strong."
The team's coach, who has indicated he will not continue next season, emphasized the importance of a good home result. He highlighted the team's experience in finals, having participated in all three national competitions this season and being champions last season, which helps them manage pressure.
“"We are where we wanted to be at the beginning of the season. We have had an incredible playoff run and now we have a final, and I always say finals are for winning. We have that mentality and we want to offer our fans this first match, consolidating the game we have been playing in this playoff."
