The Labor Inspectorate has focused on correcting abuses related to temporary work and the misuse of contractual figures. According to the data released, 719 infringement notices have been issued to companies across both provinces of the archipelago.
A detailed analysis of the contracts revealed various irregularities: 844 exceeded legal duration limits, 385 covered structural needs on a temporary basis, and 1,522 involved permanent-discontinuous workers who were effectively working continuously throughout the year.
The hospitality sector has been one of the main beneficiaries of these measures, accounting for 523 of the conversions from permanent-discontinuous to ordinary indefinite contracts. In total, 433 temporary contracts were converted to indefinite status for exceeding legal limits, while another 474 were regularized after being proven to cover permanent structural positions.
