Medical Strike in Canary Islands: 10.5% Follow-up in SCS, 23.8% for Technical Staff

The Ministry of Health details the follow-up percentages for the medical and technical staff strikes called this Friday across the islands.

The doctors' strike called this Friday, May 29, in the Canary Islands saw a 10.51% follow-up in the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), while the technical staff strike reached 23.82%.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported that the doctors' strike called for this Friday, May 29, had a 10.51% follow-up in the health institutions of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS). This figure covers both Primary Care and Hospital Care.
Out of 7,141 staff members called to strike, 4,147 were affected by the work stoppage, and of those, 436 participated in the strike. By health areas, Gran Canaria led the follow-up with 278 strikers out of 1,677 affected (16.58%), followed by Tenerife, with 161 out of 1,874 (8.59%). In Lanzarote, six out of 252 professionals (2.38%) and in Fuerteventura, six out of 363 (1.65%) joined the strike. In La Palma, five out of 138 (3.62%) went on strike, while in La Gomera and El Hierro, no staff members were on strike.
The day proceeded without notable incidents, despite having 1,254 staff members on minimum services during the morning.
On the other hand, the national strike by technical health staff, called to demand the unblocking of their professional reclassification, registered a 23.82% follow-up in the Canary Islands Health Service. Of the 1,175 called, 634 were affected, and 151 participated in the strike.
In this call, Gran Canaria had 69 participants out of 230 affected (30%), and Tenerife, 66 out of 240 (27.5%). Lanzarote recorded 14 strikers out of 41 (34.15%), Fuerteventura one out of 93 (1.08%), and La Palma one out of 27 (3.7%). Similar to the doctors' strike, La Gomera and El Hierro had no staff members on strike in this group. The day had 365 staff members on minimum services and proceeded without incidents.
