The ceremony, held at the Insular Auditorium in San Sebastián de La Gomera, recognized the work of these institutions for their initiatives in inclusion, pedagogical innovation, sustainability, coexistence, internationalization, and the promotion of Canarian identity.
The Minister of Education, Poli Suárez, emphasized that these awards "highlight the daily work our educational centers carry out to offer quality, innovative, and inclusive teaching." He underscored the commitment of management teams, teachers, and educational communities as drivers of transformation.
Among the honored schools are the EEI Almirante Antequera (Gran Canaria) for linguistic communication; CEIP Los Quintana (Gran Canaria) for mathematical competence; CEIP Almácigo (Tenerife) for digital competence; CEIP Los Tarahales (Gran Canaria) for multilingualism; and CEIP Guiguan (Lanzarote) for Canarian heritage.
Also recognized were CEIP Cristóbal García Blairzy (Fuerteventura) for equity and inclusion; CEIP Puntagorda (La Palma) for educational innovation; CEIP San Sebastián (Tenerife) and IES Doramas (Gran Canaria) for coeducation; IES Benito Pérez Armas (Tenerife) for student coexistence and well-being; and IES José Zerpa (Gran Canaria) for pedagogical leadership.
Poli Suárez added that these centers "represent the best of our educational system" and announced that the next edition will be held in Lanzarote, continuing the policy of bringing these recognitions to the non-capital islands.
The insular Minister of Education, Rosa Elena García, expressed La Gomera's pride in hosting the ceremony, highlighting the educational vision that is "committed, innovative, inclusive, and connected to reality."
The mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera, Angélica Padilla, stressed the importance of the awards in recognizing the "effort, dedication, and innovation capacity" of teachers and schools.
