Former international player Vitolo Machín presented a new edition of his campus and admitted he anticipates UD Las Palmas' imminent return to the First Division. The homegrown player, who debuted at the club in 2010 and had a notable career with teams like Sevilla and Atlético de Madrid, now watches from afar but with great enthusiasm for the team's present.
Regarding the possibility of not achieving promotion, Vitolo stated: "Everyone has their own view. If you are demanding, you will say it's a failure... UD's objective is to be promoted to the First Division this year. If they don't go up, it would be a blow for everyone. When I see UD play, I think next year we will be in the First Division again, but not achieving promotion would be a disappointment."
The former player also praised the UD fans, calling their support "incredible" and highlighting their ability to "fill a stadium with 30,000 people." "There are few fan bases where if you give them a little, they fill a stadium with 30,000 people. How they cheer... I'm not saying it to be nice. I really think that. My experience was always the best when I got to play," he affirmed.
On Jonathan Viera, Vitolo considered him "a legend" and asked the fans to "remember" and value his contributions to the club.
These statements were made during the presentation of his campus, aimed at children aged 5 to 15, which will take place between June 22 and July 31 in various locations across Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. Vitolo expressed "great enthusiasm" for this initiative, which has been successful in previous summers thanks to its top-tier coaching staff and activity program.
