The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow alerts for this Sunday across all the Canary Islands due to a calima episode that will significantly reduce visibility, accompanied by intense wind gusts in Tenerife.

The calima alert, which implies a reduction in visibility to 3,000 meters, will affect the entire archipelago. Although it is expected to primarily impact mid-altitudes and high areas, it is likely to extend to lower zones of the islands as well.
In Tenerife, the wind warning will be active until the early hours of Sunday to Monday, with maximum gusts of 70 kilometers per hour in the northern-facing mid-altitudes and the ridge. Central peaks could experience gusts exceeding 100 km/h.
For Gran Canaria and Tenerife, the calima alert began at noon on Saturday and will end at nine in the evening on Sunday. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the episode will extend until dawn. In La Gomera and El Hierro, the warning will conclude at six in the afternoon on Sunday, while in La Palma, activated later, it will remain until the same time.
