The VIDOC (Integral Documentation Vehicle) unit of the National Police, operational in Gran Canaria since October 2025, has seen high demand in Teror, where it has visited approximately twice a month. The service allows for the immediate processing and issuance of both DNI (National Identity Document) and passports, maintaining the same security standards as a police station.
Citizens have primarily used this service for DNI renewals, although passports are also issued. The unit is equipped with a Portable Electronic Document Update Point (PADS) for operations related to the electronic DNI (DNIe).
For DNI renewal, the previous document, a recent passport-sized photograph with a plain white background, and a fee of 12.00 euros are required, unless exempt due to being a large family. If changing address, a certificate of registration from the Town Hall, valid for three months, is necessary. For minors under 14, the presence of one parent is mandatory.
In cases of DNI loss, theft, or damage, in addition to the 12.00 euro fee (with the same exemptions), the relevant police report for theft or loss must be presented. If the DNI is expired or will expire within 90 days, a recent photograph is required.
For passport issuance, a valid and undamaged DNI, the previous passport if applicable, and a recent photograph are required. The fee is 30.00 euros, with exemptions for large families. For minors under 18, both parents must be present, along with their identification documents and the family record book.
For passport processing in case of loss or damage, similar requirements apply, including the presentation of a police report and the corresponding fee.
