The headquarters of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria hosted this Wednesday the draw, organized for over two decades, to establish the sequence of municipal floats for the 74th edition of the traditional Romería-Ofrenda del Pino, an event conceived by Néstor Álamo in 1952.

The Minister of Culture of the Gran Canarian Cabildo, Guacimara Medina, and the mayor of Teror, José Agustín Arencibia, along with the event's coordinator, Fernando Suárez, determined the starting order. The procession will be led by the float from the host municipality, Teror, followed by that of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, co-organizer of the festivities in honor of the Patron Saint of the Canarian Diocese. Subsequently, the floats from La Aldea de San Nicolás and Mogán will parade; these do not participate in the draw due to their geographical distance.

Following them, the municipalities of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Tejeda, Telde, Gáldar, Valleseco, Arucas, Santa María de Guía, Santa Brígida, Ingenio, Agüimes, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Vega de San Mateo, Moya, Artenara, Agaete, Firgas, Valsequillo, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will participate.

Valsequillo and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria were the only municipalities without institutional representation at the draw. During the event, logistical matters were discussed, including transportation, the return journey for the delegations and folklore groups, and the clearing of floats and animals after the pilgrimage.

As in previous years, various folklore groups from other islands will also participate in the procession, interspersed among the Gran Canarian municipalities.
