The Council has extended the application period, which is open to individuals with Spanish nationality, who are of legal age, and are residents of the municipality. Applications can be submitted through the City Council's electronic headquarters or in person at its Registry Office.
Applicants must attach a certified photocopy of their DNI or equivalent document, a declaration stating they meet all the capacity requirements set forth in the call, and a declaration of their intention to be proposed for the vacant position.
The call, published in the Official Gazette of Las Palmas on May 17th, 2024, specifies that requirements include Spanish nationality, being of legal age, and being a resident of the municipality of Teror. An exception to residency may be granted with authorization from the Governing Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, for just cause and compatibility with the duties of the office.
Candidates must not be subject to any disqualification or incompatibility as provided for in the Organic Law of the Judiciary and the Regulation of Justices of the Peace. The position does not require a law degree.
Currently, the titular Justice of the Peace for Teror is Jesús Santana Viera, appointed by the municipal plenary session unanimously on April 12th, 2025, for a four-year term.
