This municipal initiative, which includes the incorporation of a dozen of these devices, seeks to reinforce safety in spaces where numerous citizens gather for sports activities. The first units are already operational in various courts across the capital of Lanzarote.
The presentation of this new equipment took place at the Agapito Reyes Viera football field in Altavista, with the presence of Mayor Yonathan de León and Sports Councilor Eli Merino. Both highlighted the importance of these devices, which include resuscitation bags for immediate interventions.
“"From now on, we offer more public resources to prevent and treat sudden cardiac arrests in places where sporting events are held, and many people may attend."
In addition to the installation, Councilor Eli Merino announced a training plan aimed at clubs, directors, and coaches. The objective is to train them in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and the proper use of these defibrillators, ensuring an effective response in case of emergency.
This measure complements existing resources, as both the Local Police and Civil Protection of Arrecife already have semi-automatic defibrillators in their official vehicles, thus expanding emergency coverage in the city.
