The Lanzarote Island Council has initiated urgent procedures to tender the modernization works for the air conditioning system at the Insular Library in Arrecife, with an estimated investment of €950,000.

The island institution has rapidly processed the necessary reports to put the new air conditioning system out for public tender. The project, with a budget of €950,000, aims to ensure the comfort and safety of the facilities.
The work will involve installing new air conditioning units, dismantling and removing the existing ones, and ensuring proper environmental remediation. It also includes the complete replacement of old ducts, wiring, and the existing plumbing network.

"The Library users cannot continue waiting for such a necessary infrastructure."

Ascensión Toledo · Councilor responsible for the Insular Library
Following the approval of credit retention and the expedited processing of the file, the tender for the works is expected to take place during the summer period. Under normal circumstances, the physical execution of the works could be completed by the end of the year.

"An installation as essential for promoting culture and education as the Insular Library must maintain conditions that guarantee good performance for users and workers."

Oswaldo Betancort · Island President
This initiative directly addresses citizen demands. Councilor Ascensión Toledo highlighted the administrative speed in expediting procedures after the project's drafting, emphasizing the government group's priority on user comfort and safety. Island President Oswaldo Betancort added that the library, as a cultural and educational space, must provide optimal conditions for both users and staff.
