The Arrecife City Council has taken a significant step in housing policy by approving licenses for the construction of 43 new residences, while also opening for public consultation a new ordinance to regulate the use of electric scooters in the municipality.

The local government board of Arrecife, under the direction of the Urban Planning department, has granted urban permits that will allow the construction of 43 new homes. This measure is part of the municipal strategy to increase housing supply in the capital of Lanzarote.
In addition to housing, the same session authorized the execution of projects that include the creation of 40 parking spaces, seeking to reinforce the service infrastructure associated with residential growth. These actions add to the hundreds of licenses already granted during the current term.

"We continue to take firm steps to increase the housing supply in Arrecife, streamlining procedures and facilitating the progress of projects that had been in processing for some time."

The new constructions are expected to be developed mainly in the peripheral neighborhoods, although actions in central areas of the city are also contemplated. The streamlining of the technical office is key for procedures to advance more quickly.
On another note, the Arrecife City Council has opened for public consultation the new traffic ordinance for electric scooters. This regulation, promoted by the Mobility and Transport area, will establish criteria on the age of users and the minimum conditions for circulating on public roads, and consists of 28 articles.
