The Arrecife City Council has begun renovating its tourist information panels, incorporating QR codes that provide access to a free, multilingual online guide for visitors.

This digital tool, available in Spanish, English, and German, enriches the tourist experience in the capital of Lanzarote with narration and audiovisual material. The platform www.arrecifeontour.com offers routes, data on local attractions, commerce, leisure, and culture, in addition to an audio guide.
The initiative is promoted by the Department of Tourism and Commerce, led by councilor Eli Merino, with the purpose of providing tourists with direct, real-time access to content. The new panels are labeled with vinyl and integrate access to the digital guide via QR code.
The council has announced that the guide will progressively incorporate more languages, and an events agenda is planned, with periodic updates. Mayor Yonathan de León and councilor Eli Merino presented one of these new information panels, emphasizing that the digitalization of information seeks to optimize visitors' stay in Arrecife.
The municipal guide covers the entire municipality of Arrecife, including both the city center and the neighborhoods, to promote broader tours and facilitate itinerary planning beyond the usual areas. Among the included content is a section dedicated to César Manrique and his intervention in public spaces such as Plaza de Las Palmas, Parque José Ramírez Cerdá, El Almacén, MIAC Castillo de San José, and the Charco de San Ginés promenade.
Councilor Eli Merino highlighted that the panels have been strategically placed in various areas of the city. The City Council reported that Arrecife received over 640,000 cruise tourists last year, with forecasts to exceed 700,000 this year, consolidating the capital as the Canarian leader in cruise passenger arrivals. This online guide, implemented during the current term, aims to strengthen Arrecife's position as a destination and contribute to tourism competitiveness, amidst hotel renovations and improvements in accommodation facilities.
