The cultural center El Almacén in Arrecife has inaugurated two new collective exhibitions exploring surrealist creation and a contemporary reinterpretation of love poetry.

The installations, sponsored by the Cabildo through the Culture Department, will be open to the public until June 6. Additionally, several free guided tours have been scheduled with David Machado.
One of the exhibitions is Palabra mutante, coordinated by Marta Neme and Emma LLG (Prototekné). This work is the result of a surrealist creation workshop that merged literature, theater, and visual arts, developed with the participation of teachers and students from IES Las Maretas and Costa Teguise. Using techniques such as automatic writing, the project has generated a series of visual poems displayed in the Aljibe room.

"When setting up the installation, we saw how the poems acquire a new dimension by dialoguing with each other and occupying the space."

Marta Neme

"The project allows teachers and students to come to El Almacén not only as an audience, but as an active part of the creative process."

Emma LLG
The second installation, Siete poemas de amor y una canción desesperada, is part of the project Todo en ti es naufragio. Curated by Guacimara Hernández, this exhibition offers a contemporary review of the poetics of love, inspired by Pablo Neruda's famous collection of poems. Eight local artists have contributed pieces that engage with this literary universe, combining visual and poetic elements in El Almacén's Salita.

"The installation proposes a dialogue between poetry and visual arts to reflect on how the idea of love and the sensibility surrounding it are constructed today."
