The San Bartolomé City Council, in Lanzarote, will allocate over five million euros over the next five years to reinforce street cleaning, gardening, and public space maintenance services.

The new contract, awarded to FCC Medio Ambiente, represents a significant improvement over the previous one, incorporating more human and material resources. The workforce will increase from 22 to 28 employees, a 27% rise, enhancing the operational capacity of the service throughout the municipality.
The team will consist of 15 street cleaning operators, 11 gardening professionals, a plumber, and a technician, allowing for reinforced attention in streets, parks, and sensitive areas of the municipality.

"This investment reflects a clear commitment to improving public services and ensuring a cleaner, more cared-for, and sustainable municipality."

In addition to the staff increase, the contract includes the incorporation of a new fleet of nine vehicles, including trucks, vans, a pick up, high-reach cranes, and an electric bicycle. Two operational bases will also be established in San Bartolomé and Playa Honda to optimize logistics.
Planned actions include daily street sweeping and cleaning, maintenance of container areas, waste removal, clearing of paths and verges, as well as cleaning of grates, drains, and public spaces. Disinfection tasks, maintenance of children's playgrounds, and integrated management of plant waste are also included.
The new service was presented last Tuesday at the Playa Honda Urban Park, in an event attended by representatives of the awarded company, who committed to introducing improvements in innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in service provision.
