According to a report from the Data Center, the total number of direct public employees across the Cabildo and Lanzarote's municipalities reached 2,962 at the beginning of the second quarter of 2025. This figure represents an increase of almost 200 professionals compared to the start of the year.
The island's primary corporation, the Cabildo, remains the entity with the largest number of staff, recording 1,256 direct professional hires active by the end of March. This is equivalent to an average of 7.5 public workers per thousand legal inhabitants on the island.
At the municipal level, Arrecife leads with 487 hires, translating to 6.9 positions per thousand residents. In contrast, Haría, with 106 hires, shows the highest proportion relative to its population, reaching 18.9 positions per thousand residents.
The other municipalities also show significant figures: Teguise has 281 employees (11.7 per thousand inhabitants), Yaiza has 246 (13.1 per thousand), Tías has 237 (11 per thousand), San Bartolomé has 229 (11.7 per thousand), and Tinajo has 120 (17.3 per thousand). In all eight cases, current figures exceed those from the beginning of the year.
To find a larger count for the Cabildo, one must look back to the third quarter of 2023. For Arrecife, the first quarter of the previous year was the period with the most significant staff total.
