The Local Police of Tías has incorporated four new state-of-the-art electric tasers, similar to those used by the Canarian Police, to enhance safety and response capabilities in high-risk situations.

The police force in Tías now has four advanced electronic control devices as of this week. The primary objective of this acquisition is to boost officers' response capacity to risky situations, as well as to increase public safety and the protection of police personnel, as explained by the mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, during the presentation of the new equipment.
Manufactured by the company Axon, these new protection elements allow officers to confront up to five simultaneous threats with a single device. This feature significantly enhances operational effectiveness in complex scenarios.
The effective range of the new devices has been considerably extended, from the approximately four meters of previous models to fifteen meters. This improvement provides a greater safety distance during interventions.
Furthermore, the tasers incorporate a body camera that records police actions during service. All use of these devices is regulated by computer systems that store and log data from each intervention, information that can be used later in corresponding procedures and instructions.

"The safety of our residents and our officers is a priority for this governing body; with the incorporation of these four electronic control devices, we take a step forward in modernizing our Local Police, equipping it with more effective, safer, and more guaranteed tools."

These tools operate using a discontinuous electrical current that causes temporary neuromuscular incapacitation in the individual posing a threat, thereby facilitating their control and neutralization by officers.
