The Fuerteventura Summer University (UVF) is holding its fourth edition from June 22 to 26 in Puerto del Rosario, focusing on the challenges of information, rigor, and veracity amidst an overabundance of content and disinformation.

The initiative, academically supported by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University of La Laguna (ULL), will take place at the Centro Insular de Juventud. The five-day program includes conferences, dialogues, workshops, and round tables designed to foster debate and the exchange of ideas on topics such as 'fake news' and hoaxes.
The University of La Laguna is actively participating with lectures and workshops. Doctor in Information Sciences Lara Carrascosa will speak on algorithms, power, and truth. Meanwhile, Doctors Patricia Delponti and predoctoral researcher Nievas Santana will lead a workshop on climate disinformation, and Journalism student Esmeralda Barrios will moderate a panel on female leadership in the media.
Registration for the UVF is full, but a waiting list has been established for potential cancellations. The Minister of Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, highlighted that the inclusion of the ULL demonstrates the UVF's capacity to attract talent and knowledge.
This year's edition is supported by collaborations with entities such as the DISA Foundation, the MAPFRE Canarias Foundation, Radio Televisión Canaria, and Radio Televisión Española. Specialists in democracy, artificial intelligence, critical thinking, and journalism in the face of disinformation will participate.
