The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has successfully concluded the nautical activities program ‘La Semana Azul’ for the 2025-2026 school year, which involved 1,249 students from 37 educational centers.
The initiative, developed between September 2025 and June 2026, took place at venues in Puerto del Rosario, Gran Tarajal, Morro Jable, and Corralejo, facilitating student access to nautical activities under conditions of proximity and safety. The final day included the participation of 35 students from CEO Antigua.
Students engaged in theoretical and practical sessions introducing various nautical disciplines, learning basic aspects of navigation, marine safety, boat handling, teamwork, and respect for the coastline and marine ecosystems.
Beyond sports learning, the program promotes values such as coexistence, cooperation, personal autonomy, equality, inclusion, and care for the natural environment, using nautical sports as a tool for integral education and training.
“
"The high participation registered during this course shows that La Semana Azul is a fully consolidated and highly valued program by the educational community. Our goal is for students from all municipalities to learn about the marine environment, get started in water sports, and acquire values that are fundamental for their personal and collective development."
“
"The decentralization of the program through different venues allows us to bring activities closer to educational centers and take advantage of Fuerteventura's excellent natural conditions for practicing sea-related sports."
The Ministry of Sports has expressed gratitude to all participating educational centers, their management teams, teachers, and accompanying staff. Recognition was also given to the work of the technical staff, monitors, and professionals responsible for the activities, as well as the collaboration of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Puertos Canarios, Maritime Captaincy, the involved city councils, and entities such as the Club Náutico Península de Jandía and the Club de Pesca Faro de La Entallada.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura reaffirms its commitment to promoting sports for school-aged children, education in values, and bringing young people closer to the marine environment, consolidating ‘La Semana Azul’ as a benchmark program. The initiative is part of the Sportura25-35 strategy of the Cabildo's Ministry of Sports.
