The 'Carrera de Letras' competition, adapted to foster mental agility and cognitive stimulation for participants, is being held separately from the main competition weekend for the first time, visiting all municipalities of Fuerteventura between October 2nd and 8th.
The event will commence on Friday, October 2nd. At 10:30 AM, the test will take place at the Pabellón Municipal Oasis in Puerto del Rosario, and at 5:00 PM, at the Pabellón Municipal in Gran Tarajal (municipality of Tuineje).
The tour continues on Monday, October 5th, at the Pabellón Municipal José Perdomo Umpiérrez in Corralejo (La Oliva) at 10:30 AM, and at 6:00 PM at the Centro de Mayores in Antigua. On Thursday, October 8th, the competition moves to Pájara (10:30 AM at the Polideportivo Municipal de Morro Jable) and Betancuria (5:00 PM at the Centro Cultural de Valle de Santa Inés).
The Neuromajo project, driven by the Social Action Department of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Asociación Neurolímpica, involves the six island municipalities. This year, Padilla Supermercados Spar, Grupo Barceló, and Dany Sport have joined as collaborators to promote active aging.
The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, and the Minister of Social Action, Víctor Alonso, have expressed their pride in developing this initiative, thanking the participation of monitors, the Asociación Neurolímpica, the municipalities, collaborating entities, and the participants themselves.
The Cabildo also reminded that the inaugural parade will take place on Friday, October 16th, in Caleta de Fuste (Antigua) starting at 5:00 PM. The rest of the competition will be held at Playitas Sports Resort on Saturday, 17th, and Sunday, 18th October, featuring qualification rounds, finals, and a closing ceremony.
Finally, the Gala NeuroMajo 2026, which will recognize the season's efforts, is scheduled for February 2027 at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos de Fuerteventura in Puerto del Rosario.
