The festival, which has selected 75 short films from nearly 2,000 submissions across 78 countries, solidifies its position as an international platform connecting talent and industry. The opening gala will take place this Wednesday at the Espacio CICCA in the capital of Gran Canaria, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
“"A consolidated international platform capable of connecting talent, industry, and market."
Among the most anticipated premieres is the world launch of An Epic Yarn, presented by its director Andrew Gordon, an animator and executive producer at Pixar Animation Studios. The short film The Piano, executive produced by Tony Bancroft and presented by its director and screenwriter Avery Kroll, will also have its Canary Islands premiere.
Another premiere in the Canary Islands will be Cap Al Cel by Shoji Films, presented by its director Nicolás Solé and producer Rubén Seca. The directors of these three short films will participate in a panel on Saturday the 9th, moderated by Ramin Zahed, editor-in-chief of Animation Magazine.
This edition's selection of titles highlights a strong representation from international schools and universities, such as Gobelins (France), ESMA (France), and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (Germany), underscoring the festival's role as a bridge between academia and the professional industry.
