Argentine basketball player Nico Brussino, from Dreamland Gran Canaria, has shared his thoughts on the recent dismissal of coach Jaka Lakovic and the challenging period the team is experiencing before their upcoming game against Casademont Zaragoza.

During a press conference at the Arena, ahead of Saturday's 7:00 PM match against Casademont Zaragoza, Brussino openly discussed Jaka Lakovic's termination. The player, considered a key figure in the locker room, acknowledged that the decision was a "personal blow" but stressed the necessity for a change in the team's dynamic.

"On a personal level, it was a tough blow. These four years with him were very good. He has been one of my best coaches. The situation needed a change; I don't know if it was him or us. I think a change was needed, and it's easier to change a coach than twelve players, right? His departure hurt me a lot because I didn't expect it to be like that, but these are things that happen in our job. We know the situation we were in, so he had to take the fall, as they say. These are basketball circumstances, and I wish him the best."

The Argentine international also commented on the initial adjustments made by the new coach, Néstor Che García. According to Brussino, the team already displayed a "different image" in the previous game against Baskonia, showing progress and a renewed focus. He highlighted García's intensity and his ability to keep the team concentrated throughout the 40 minutes of play.
Regarding the current sports crisis that has led Gran Canaria to fight against relegation, Brussino admitted not knowing the exact reasons. He attributed part of the difficulty to the overall improvement of the ACB League, where any team can cause an upset. However, he emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort to overcome this slump, with attitude and intensity being non-negotiable elements on the court.
Looking ahead to the match against Casademont Zaragoza, Brussino warned about the opponent's good form, mentioning key players like Robinson, Dubljevic, Santi Yusta, and Spissu. The player expressed the team's desire to return to winning ways on their home court, seeking relief and joy that will allow them to continue working and seeing the results of the implemented changes.
